Nicola Lewis

Experience Years:

Nicola qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and is now a full time mediator, having worked as a civil litigation, and employment lawyer in the city, and a legal adviser in the Department for Business working on employment and equality legislation, WTO advisory work and EU/UK consumer law issues.

Her broad background as both a litigator, advocate in employment tribunals and as a government advisory lawyer has led her to experience the law from a variety of angles.

Her preferred approach to dispute resolution is mediation where people take a non-adversarial approach and work towards an outcome that works for everyone.

Nicola is a highly competent mediator who puts participants at their ease. She works towards desired outcomes and by considering the underlying issues and needs of the participants, she helps them to find a way forward in even the most complex apparently intractable situations.

Nicola is experienced across a range of civil and commercial areas including:

  • Commercial/contractual disputes (supply of goods and services)
  • Residential property/Landlord and Tenant disputes
  • Family finance disputes
  • Inheritance disputes
  • Professional Negligence
  • Building disputes
  • Costs
  • Workplace and employment

She is also qualified as a family mediator and works extensively in this area as well as volunteering as a community mediator for two inner London services and working as a workplace and family mediator for a charity which provides practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children and young people. Nicola also runs mediation training and workshops for lawyers, new mediators and businesses.

Nicola is based in London but will travel as required to mediate.
